The WHO European Centre for Environment and Health (ECEH), under the auspices of the Environment and Health Process (EHP), and in partnership with the Transport, Health and Environment Pan-European Programme (THE PEP), is holding the third of a series of high-level Bonn Dialogues on Environment and Health.

This Dialogue will focus on the role of walking and cycling for green, healthy and sustainable mobility and will mark World Bicycle Day.

The main objectives of this Dialogue are to:

  • take stock of the latest evidence from urban and transport planning practice and argue for an evidence-based approach to promoting walking and cycling;
  • exchange views on policy opportunities, emerging approaches and good practices to design and implement policies and measures that promote walking and cycling; and
  • highlight tools in support of policy-making for walking and cycling.

A new publication, ‘Walking and cycling: latest evidence to support policy-making and practice’, will be launched at the event.

This event is open to: Environment and Health Task Force members; THE PEP Focal Points; anyone working on transport, health, environment and urban planning issues in national, regional and local governments; as well as researchers, educators, students, policy advocates, managers, civil society representatives and the general public.
