Communicating for impact: changing health narratives together

9 – 10 October 2025
Copenhagen (hybrid), Denmark

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), such as cancer and cardiovascular disease, remain the leading cause of death and disability in the WHO European Region, driven by risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity and alcohol consumption. Beyond policy and data, effective communication is essential to shift narratives, reach diverse audiences and counter misinformation.

On 9–10 October 2025, WHO/Europe, together with the European Union (EU) Joint Action Prevent NCDs (JA PreventNCD) and Joint Action on Cardiovascular Diseases (JACARDI), will convene communications professionals, media experts, researchers, youth and people with lived experience, for a dedicated event in Copenhagen.

Through keynotes, interactive sessions and practical workshops, participants will explore how to strengthen capacity for impactful, evidence-based communication; showcase success stories such as the Redefine Alcohol campaign (part of the WHO–EU Evidence into Action Alcohol Project (EVID-ACTION)); and work on collaboration across sectors and disciplines. A special focus will be placed on reframing health narratives around alcohol, tobacco, nutrition and physical activity, while ensuring trust, accessibility and equity in health information.

This event is open to invited participants and will serve as a platform to build a stronger, more coordinated approach to communicating for health impact across Europe.
