For the first time, WHO/Europe is working with a group of celebrity influencers to help raise awareness about making health for all a reality.
Soulin Omar, Helena Christensen, Lawrence Okolie, Diego Barrueco and Mo Abdulle have come together to share one simple message: ensure universal health coverage for everyone – including refugees and migrants.
Working with these celebrities from all walks of life, WHO/Europe is reaching broader audiences to share messages on achieving universal health coverage.
WHO/Europe encourages everyone to speak up for the health of refugees and migrants. You can support our campaign by sharing #HealthForAll messages on social media and telling positive stories of refugees’ and migrants’ contributions to communities.
Health care is a right, not a privilege
Refugees and migrants make up more than 13% of the people in Europe and central Asia, but many remain excluded from universal health coverage. They can face many challenges when accessing health services. Yet the right to health applies to all, including refugees and migrants.
Shaping a new vision of health
It is estimated that, globally, 281 million people live outside their country of origin – which equates to more than 1 in 30 people. The WHO European Region hosts approximately 36% of the global international migrant population.
On 17–18 March 2022, WHO/Europe is inviting health ministers and representatives of the Member States of the WHO European, African and Eastern Mediterranean regions, as well as representatives of refugee and migrant groups and partner organizations, to a high-level meeting on health and migration. This is part of WHO/Europe’s ongoing work with other WHO regions and partners to shape a joint vision for the health of refugees and migrants.
