The WHO Technical Advisory Group on Buruli ulcer is composed of members who are chosen for their expertise in Buruli ulcer control and research. The group meets once every 2 years and Members serve for a period of 3 years and may be reappointed once for another 3 years. TAG members are expected:
- To advocate for greater awareness and support of Buruli ulcer in the context of Skin NTDs and neglected and tropical diseases;
- To monitor the implementation of the intensified control strategy of Buruli ulcer and provide recommendations;
- To promote and monitor innovative, integrated control strategies for skin NTDs, including Buruli ulcer, as well as integration within primary health care as appropriate;
- To participate in joint country missions to assess progress and contribute to country level advocacy with Ministries of Health and partners;
- To prioritize new research initiatives and guide their implementation;
- To assist in identifying funding to support the implementation of the above-mentioned activities.
