A glimpse from the handover of essential equipment and medicines to diagnose and manage NCDs_Nepal_1

Kathmandu, Bagmati Province - WHO, Country Office for Nepal, handed over essential equipment and medicines related to noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). These include equipment to measure height, lung capacity, blood pressure, blood sugar, and urine protein; and medicines for priority NCDs such as high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic lung disease, and high blood cholesterol. The supplies will be delivered to the Primary Health Care Centers of eight districts where NORAD NCDs project is being implemented. The project, implemented by MoHP and WHO, Country Office for Nepal, aims to strengthen health systems to deliver the essential NCDs service and will build on the existing program ‘Package of Essential Noncommunicable Disease’ implementation. By delivering a comprehensive service including early detection, management, and long-term care for common NCDs, the premature deaths and disabilities associated with NCDs could be reduced. NORAD, the development agency of the Norwegian Government, has financially supported the project.
