Kathmandu, Bagmati province - The Quality Standards and Regulation Division, Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), with WHO support, held a one-day multisectoral consultation workshop on the Tracking AMR Country Self-assessment Survey (TrACSS) to assess Nepal’s progress in combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Developed by the Quadripartite organizations – WHO, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) – the TrACSS survey helps countries evaluate and report AMR efforts annually. Thirty representatives from human and animal health, food and agriculture, environment, education and planning reviewed the survey, assessed national progress and consolidated Nepal’s official response for global submission. These data will help identify gaps, track progress and guide national policy. WHO will continue supporting the MoHP in implementing the National Action Plan on AMR through awareness-raising, research and laboratory capacity building to generate evidence-based data to tackle AMR. The initiative is funded by the Fleming Fund.
