11 January | Nepalgunj, Lumbini Province - A team from WHO Immunization Preventable Diseases (IPD) Unit along with officials from the Ministry of Health and Population are on the ground in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City which has reported a (laboratory confirmed) measles outbreak. Between 4 December 2022 to 8 January 2023, 110 cases have been reported in different wards of the city; majority of the cases are either under-vaccinated or unvaccinated individuals. WHO staff have been supporting the outbreak response by carrying out field monitoring of active case searches, organizing coordination meetings with partners, providing orientation on case management to health workers, supporting and advocating for case surveillance, contact tracing, and engaging with religious and community leaders to help promote outbreak response vaccination and case reporting.
