13-14 January | Sunsari, Province 1 – The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Department of Health Services, with support from WHO, Country Office for Nepal, conducted a two-day workshop in Dharan to discuss A Win-Win-Win Strategy through a three-way partnership of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Provincial Health Ministry, and B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) to strengthen health systems in Province 1. Participants included senior-level officials from the MoHP; Ministry of Health, Province 1; officials from BPKIHS, and elected officials. A declaration outlining the major areas of partnership and scope of collaboration for three agencies, particularly related to NCDs and Mental Health (MH), was agreed at the event which lists signing a memorandum of understanding between the provincial health ministry and BPKIHS to strengthen the teaching district concept of BPKIHS, support BPKIHS to enhance its skills lab and training hall, integrate mhGAP and PEN training competencies into BPKIHS curriculum, support BPKIHS to enhance MH and NCDs telemedicine services, and establish model learning sites for integrated, people-centered health services.
