23-25 September | Nagarkot, Bagmati Province - The National Health Training Center (NHTC), in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and WHO Country Office for Nepal, organized a Basic Emergency Care (BEC) adaptation workshop to contextualize the BEC course and standardize the emergency care toolkit, including its content, participant and facilitator criteria, knowledge assessment and required equipment. Attended by 25 high-level healthcare officials from the NHTC, MoHP, and 16 federal and provincial hospitals, the workshop standardized the Learning Resource Package (LRP) to ensure its adaptability to Nepal and enhance its effectiveness. Aligned with the Global Emergency and Trauma Care Initiative (GETI), the course – introduced by WHO in 2022 in Nepal - has trained over 900 frontline health-care providers to reduce mortality and morbidity by providing a systematic initial approach to managing acute and life-threatening conditions. WHO will support the MoHP in the adapted and standardized LRP's endorsement, promoting sustainable improvements in Nepal’s emergency care system.
