The World Health Organization (WHO) Global Tuberculosis Programme is seeking case studies of programmatic innovations to maintain and improve TB prevention and care in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The significant demand of the COVID-19 pandemic on health systems and economies, coupled with public health measures such as restricted movement, have exacerbated the pandemic’s adverse impact on TB services. As a chronic lung disease, TB may also worsen outcomes in people with COVID-19[1][2], Successfully containing the double threat of TB and COVID-19, therefore, requires impactful approaches and global collaborations.
This initiative seeks to collect lessons learnt from countries and partners on innovative solutions being implemented to address programmatic barriers in the clinical, social and economic management of TB disease, created or exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It envisions to communicate high quality case studies on WHO’s website to allow learning from the implementing countries.
As a first step, we thus invite staff from national TB programmes and technical partners engaged in this field to send a short one-page abstract of relevant activities via this form. We will then contact contributors with a view to compiling and sharing different experiences in due course.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Please note that for countries from the European region a separate survey is being organised by the WHO Regional Office for Europe and they should take part in that one.
