On 29-30 October 2019, over 90 members of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC), representing governments, international organizations, NGOs and other groups convened in Geneva, Switzerland to discuss next strategic steps in global road safety.
On the first day the plenary session was officially opened by Dr E. Krug while Mr J. Todt, Special Envoy of the Secretary General for Road Safety provided opening remarks. Topics of discussions included preparations of the Third Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, including the pre-events, the recommendations of the academic expert group for the way forward and the evaluation of the Decade of Action for Road Safety. Progress made in the development of guidance tool to support the implementation of the 12 road safety targets agreed upon in November 2017 and their related indicators were also touched on.
On the second day, the seven project groups convened to discuss progress in implementing their work plans and plan their future activities and reported back to plenary on the second day.
One new member was welcomed to the UNRSC: the International Association of Public Transport (UITP).
