Preventing violence against children: INSPIRE webinar series - Introduction and cross-activities

11 December 2020

Webinar #1

Introduction and cross-activities

To assist governments, practitioners and implementers, civil society and faith-based organizations in their efforts to reduce violence against children, the INSPIRE core agencies and INSPIRE Working Group initiated a series of eight training webinars (December 2020 - April 2021). The aims are to:

  • Introduce INSPIRE to those who need to know and act on it,
  • Remind those who already work with INSPIRE about the need to scale it up, and
  • Give all INSPIRE stakeholders an opportunity to get detailed insights into each of the seven strategies and the cross-cutting elements.

This first webinar in the series provides an overview of INSPIRE and the value of:

  • Multisectoral action and coordination: national and local government departments responsible for education, health, justice, and social welfare; the private sector; and civil society organizations, such as professional associations, faith-based organizations, academic institutions, foundations, and other NGOs; all play a critical role in preventing violence against children
  • Monitoring and evaluation: accurate measures of violence against children are essential to plan strategies and interventions, measure their impact and continuously improve them to ensure success
  • Combining several INSPIRE strategies to have wider and stronger effects on multiple forms of violence
