A community-centred approach to contact tracing for COVID-19

13 April 2021 14:00 – 15:00 CET

When: Tuesday 13 April 2021, 14:00 – 15:00 CET

Contact tracing is a strategy that has been used for decades to stop the spread of infectious diseases. Over time we have learned that implementing contact tracing successfully requires close and consistent engagement with local communities. This includes having community members as part of contact tracing teams and community involvement in the planning, selection and monitoring of contact tracing methodologies, broader sensitization strategies and communication channels.

The WHO in partnership with the RCCE Collective Service has developed an operational tool to support partners globally to improve community-centered contact tracing initiatives. The tool articulates best practice principles for community engagement and how they can be operationalized as part of any contact tracing strategy.

The purpose of this webinar is to reinforce the place of community engagement and participation in the contact tracing process through the exploration of a number of case studies that articulate how successful implementation of community engagement principles increases the impact and effectiveness of contact tracing.
