Background
There are 3 more years in the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016 – 2025) (Nutrition Decade) to accelerate action on nutrition; 2022 is the African Year of Nutrition and 2022 is the year for working towards the realization of commitments made during the 2021 UNFSS. This two-hour briefing aims to brief the Geneva Permanent Mission on the EB152 report in preparation of the 152nd Session of the Executive Board in 2023, update on programmatic work on food fortification, update on the work that the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub is doing in follow up to the UNFSS outcomes and receive an update on the work of the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG).
Objectives of the briefing are:
- To familiarize with the content of the EB152 report on the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016 – 2025);
- To update Member States on the follow-up of the outcomes of the UN Food Systems Summit, including WHO’s leadership role and coordination with UN agencies (such as the work of the Coalition of Action for Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems);
- To share information on the work of the Global Crisis Response Group.
About the briefing
This briefing is for Member States’ representatives and Government Representatives of capitals and provides an opportunity to prepare their response to the EB152 report, to comment, and ask questions on the provided information by the different speakers. The briefing will be live cast via Zoom (via a protected link) in the six UN languages and will be recorded for reporting purposes. The presentation for the session will be accessible at WHO Member States Programmatic Information session.
