On behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO), the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the Aga Khan University (AKU), we are delighted to invite you to the inaugural kick-off call of the Collaborative Open Research Consortium (CORC) for priority bacterial medical countermeasures.
The call is scheduled for 24 February at 13:00 CET for 60 minutes, and we hope you can join us.
The objectives of this call are to:
- Formally launch the new research consortium jointly coordinated by LSHTM and AKU, in their role as research hubs for priority bacteria of epidemic and pandemic concern;
- Provide an overview of the new WHO strategy and framework for epidemic and pandemic research preparedness and response;
- Discuss the CORC’s future research agenda and outline key next steps for collaboration.
In confirming your participation, we encourage you to:
- Suggest additional bacterial experts who should be invited to participate in the CORC and forward this message on. As an open consortium, we aim to include a diverse and geographically representative group of researchers, developers, funders, ethicists, regulators, trial experts, and other key stakeholders.
- Share your current research related to priority bacterial pathogens (Vibrio cholerae, Yersinia pestis, Shigella dysenteriae serotype 1, non-typhoidal Salmonella serovars Enteritidis and Typhimurium, and Klebsiella pneumoniae) and identify any key research gaps you believe should be addressed moving forward. Pathogen-specific expertise is preferred but not essential.
