The Pan American Health Organization (WHO/PAHO) continues to make important donations in the Americas region. The Organization recently delivered crucial shipments to Costa Rica and Ecuador.
In Costa Rica, WHO delivered 100 packages of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hygiene products to vulnerable populations in San José.
The packages will benefit more than a hundred families living in poverty who have a family member infected with COVID-19. Each bundle of supplies provides enough equipment to take care of a sick patient and to stay home for 21 days.
In Ecuador, WHO/PAHO recently donated medical kits and supplies to equip the Ministry of Health’s ambulances working on emergency care in the Amazon region. The equipment includes masks, thermometers, portable oxygen tanks and more.
The equipment will be used to protect frontline COVID-19 workers who will also receive training about its use.
WHO thanks all donors and partners who have contributed to fund the Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan to combat COVID-19. A special appreciation goes to Member States and other contributors who provided flexible funds, making it possible for WHO to deliver a coherent, strategic and broad response.
