Jordan: WHO increases capacity of central laboratory

2 December 2020

With the generous support of European Union Trust Fund Health Emergency Project, WHO has contributed to increasing the COVID-19 testing capacity of the Central Public Health Laboratory of the Ministry of Health in Jordan by donating test analysing equipment.

The donated equipment increases the automation of the testing process and increases the number of tests that can be carried out over a 24-hour period.

The equipment allows simultaneous processing and is designed to increase the safety and protection of laboratory technicians by minimizing the number of interactions with COVID-19 samples and thus also reducing their workload.

WHO thanks all donors and partners who have contributed to fund the Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan to combat COVID-19. A special appreciation goes to Member States and other contributors who provided flexible funds, making it possible for WHO to deliver a coherent, strategic and broad response.
