WHO coordinates large-scale response operation in Tajikistan

WHO/Europe has coordinated transportation of 23 experts from Polish emergency medical teams (EMTs) and mobile laboratories to Tajikistan as part of the large-scale internationally supported operation in response to COVID-19. The EMTs will work with their Tajik peers in medical facilities across the country to share best practice on the treatment of severe cases of COVID-19 and on preventing the spread of disease. Experts deployed from various countries by WHO/Europe will work with international partners, the WHO Country Office and the Tajik government to establish a Public Health Emergency Operations Centre, enhance the containment strategy, and strengthen risk communication and community engagement.
