WUN Deputy Director, Mr. Obermeyer, gave the opening remarks at the virtual Civil Society briefing "Global Heroes, Nurses and Midwives on the Frontline of COVID-19: One step backwards, two steps forward" organized by the UN Department of Global Communications, the International Council of Nurses and other NGO organizations, to mark World Health Day and International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. He highlighted the key role of the global healthcare workforce and the findings of the State of the World’s Nursing Report, which calls for urgent investment in nurses.
