Overview
WHO implemented the Health Financing Progress Matrix, its standardized qualitative assessment of country health financing systems, in Bangladesh, to contribute to the refinement of health financing policies and strategies with the aim of accelerating progress to UHC.
The assessment was initiated using version 1.0 of the Health Financing Progress Matrix, with subsequent updates based on version 2.0 released in December 2020. This published report provides a summary of the findings and recommendations together with the latest UHC performance data. While an independent evaluation of health financing in Bangladesh, the findings and recommendations were discussed and validated in collaboration with the Health Economics Unit (HEU), and the Health Services Division (HSD) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW).
