Analysis of human resources for health in Portuguese speaking African countries
Human Resources for Health Observer Issue 2

Overview
The report provides available data on the health workforce in Portuguese speaking countries (PALOP). Its purpose is to support the responsible staff and partners to identify the needs for intervention, in order to improve the national and regional capacity for the development of human resources for health.
The preparation of the present report was requested by the World Health Organization (WHO) and undertaken by the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Lisbon. It takes into account the first aforementioned initial activity and the preparation of the Regional Seminar “Support for the development of the human resources for health in PALOP”, that brought together the directors of departments of human resources for health of PALOP, representatives of funding agencies, of WHO and of the European Union.
