WHO South-East Asia Regional Strategy on Healthy Ageing 2024–2030

Regional Strategy on Healthy Ageing 2024–2030

Overview

The WHO SEAR Strategy on Healthy Ageing: 2024–2030 provides a comprehensive framework to assist Member States in achieving the goal of healthy ageing. It is based on five guiding principles relevant to our regional context and is in alignment with the WHO South-East Asia Regional Roadmap for Results and Resilience (‎ROADMAP). The strategic guidance is organized into four priority areas corresponding to the action areas of the United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing 2021-2030. Each priority area features region-specific actions across seven domains: Law, Policy, and Governance; Community; Financing; Service Delivery; Workforce; Protecting the Rights of Older People in Humanitarian Crises; and Data, Information, and Evaluation. These areas are supported by seven implementation enablers specific to the region.

The Regional Strategy is intended to guide and support Member States and national and/or regional multisectoral partners, e.g. civil society organizations (CSOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs), in strengthening their respective national programmes/strategies and implementation plans to foster healthy ageing and meet commitments that are meaningful for older people by 2030.
