Digital health for the end TB strategy: an agenda for action

an agenda for action

Overview

Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious global public health threat. Digital technologies present opportunities to combat TB on various fronts. This Agenda highlights strategic directions to integrate digital health into TB prevention and care activities in support of WHO’s End TB Strategy. The Agenda was developed with the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and other technical and funding partners and was launched at the ERS International Congress in Amsterdam on 29 September 2015.

Digital health for the End TB Strategy - an agenda for action:
- Advocates that TB programmes, other national authorities and all stakeholders integrate digital health solutions in their implementation of the End TB Strategy. Information and communication technology can help advance person-centred care, surveillance, programme management, staff development (e.g. eLearning), and the engagement of communities.
- Guides programmes on promising options for first focus of efforts, building on the limited available evidence about the effectiveness of digital health interventions for ending TB.
- Promotes continued monitoring and investment in implementation research on digital health interventions to increase the evidence base on effectiveness and impact.
