Meeting of member states on framework for action on food safety in the WHO South-East Asia Region

Executive summary
The Framework for Action on Food Safety in the WHO South-East Asia Region was drafted
in 2018 and the finalization process was initiated in 2019 after considering high-level food
safety conferences, WHO transformation agenda, development of the Thirteenth General
Programme of Work 2019–2023 and the Codex Strategic Plan for 2020–2025. An expert
consultation was organized to discuss the draft document in May 2019 and valuable inputs
from regional experts were incorporated. The Framework for Action is intended to provide
guidance to Member States, WHO and international partners involved in food safety for the
period 2020–2025 on prioritizing food safety activities in their respective countries.
