Overview
Echinococcosis is a chronic helminthiasis which causes damage to the liver, lungs and other organs, leading to severe complications, and often to disablement and even death. The disease is caused by the invasion and development of the larvae of Echinococcus granulosus in several organs. Echinococcosis can affect both animals and humans, and also causes considerable economic loss as a result of the destruction of large quantities of infected carcasses.Editors
