Cholera: WHO Health Emergency Appeal 2025

Overview

The world is experiencing a global resurgence of cholera, with an estimated 1 billion people at risk worldwide. Since the beginning of 2024, outbreaks have been reported in 33 countries, with more than 511 000 cases and 4100 deaths worldwide. Conflict, displacement and climate-related disasters are disrupting access to clean water and sanitation and driving the resurgence of cholera globally, making cholera outbreaks one of the most pressing health emergencies, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
