EPI-WIN digest 19 - Strengthening core clinical services for emergency preparedness: Lessons learned in the Republic of Moldova as a path forward for the global emergency community

Overview

Health systems can often be overwhelmed during crises, therefore building resilient health systems as part of preparedness and resilience for emergencies is important. The Minister of Health of Moldova, Dr. Ala Nemerenco, and the WHO Representative to Moldova, Dr. Miljana Grbic, introduced this webinar, which highlighted Moldova's work in building resilient health systems, including ensuring processes are in place to ensure continuum of case in case of health emergencies, such as conflicts and others. It focused on WHO clinical tools, protocols and trainings, such as Basic Emergency Care (BEC) and emergency care toolkit, applied to the real-life country context, and on implementing essential training and resources that enhance the capacity of healthcare workers to provide timely emergency care effectively.
