Mpox therapeutics tracker - List of therapeutics candidates in research & development
Therapeutics, mainly antivirals developed against Smallpox, have been repurposed and recommended for use against Mpox outbreaks in the near-to-short-term recommendations.
These lists include studies related to therapeutics against Mpox and smallpox.
The WHO is tracking advances and ongoing progress from pre-clinical research and development to clinical trials of therapeutics against Mpox and smallpox.
The tracker provides a summary of:
• Therapeutics candidates in clinical or pre-clinical development.
• Effectiveness data from published observational studies.
• Information on key attributes of the therapeutic candidate.
• Preclinical and clinical study designs.
• Links to published studies/sources.
• Summary of key results from open publications.
We welcome the submission of information about potential therapeutics candidates being developed for Mpox vaccines to add to this list or feedback to update the existing content in the spreadsheet.
This database is updated every month and the added material highlighted in yellow.
Data extraction tools and sources:
Data is collated and summarised from multiple sources available publicly such as from PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, WHO ICTRP and registries registered with the WHO and from a network of researchers and industry for new candidates by screening registered trials for clinical information.
