Overview
Resuscitation areas are created to be hubs for life-saving interventions for the acutely ill and injured in the Emergency Unit and at times, on the wards. In resuscitation areas, staff, equipment, medications and processes are organized to allow emergency interventions to be delivered efficiently.

The guidance on Resuscitation Area Designation describes a standardized approach to organize resuscitation areas and keep essential resources close at hand, ensuring the sickest patients in the emergency unit are clearly identified and receive needed care.

The Trauma Resuscitation Algorithm and Medical Resuscitation Algorithms are intended for use in the resuscitation area of emergency units. The posters integrate guidance from the WHO Basic Emergency Care course to direct timely resuscitation and onward referral for the acutely ill and injured.
