WHO/BS/2022.2427: Establishment of the 2nd WHO International Standard for anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin and Reference Panel for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern

Overview

As part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020 the WHO ECBS established the 1st WHO International Standard (IS) for anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin, NIBSC code 20/136, for the calibration and harmonization of assays detecting neutralising antibodies. The fast uptake of this Standard led to the depletion of stocks by August 2021. In this collaborative study, 2 preparations were evaluated to serve as the 2nd WHO IS for anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin.
