Overview
Query fever (Q fever) is a highly infectious zoonotic disease with worldwide prevalence. Q fever is caused by the Gram-negative coccobacillus Coxiella burnetii, an obligate intracellular pathogen (1). C. burnetii is usually transmitted to humans by inhalation of bacteria secreted by mammals, most commonly sheep, goats, and cattle.
