JE Immunization

Sri Lanka and Thailand have included JE vaccine in their national immunization schedules since 1988 and 1990, respectively. In 2005 and 2006, Nepal and India introduced the vaccine, following reports of large outbreaks. India has introduced JEV vaccine in 276 highly endemic districts in 21 States/Union Territories.

In 2014, Myanmar introduced the JE vaccine on a limited scale, and scaled up nationally in 2017 following a nationwide campaign. Similarly, Indonesia has recently re-established JE surveillance and introduced the JE vaccine in the province of Bali in 2018.
