Overview

The South-East Asia Regional Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (SEAR-ITAG) recommends that each country should conduct periodic joint national-international programme reviews in addition to its own regular internal programme monitoring. Such reviews have three broad objectives:

  • to provide a snapshot to public health programme directors and public health policy makers on the status of the EPI and VPD surveillance
  • to assess progress in meeting key national, regional and global goals and
  • to provide an opportunity to share lessons learned with other countries sharing the same goals for preventing and controlling vaccine preventable diseases.

Recent reviews took place in Indonesia (February 2020), Maldives (August 2019), Bangladesh (August 2018), Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (July 2018) and Myanmar (October 2016).
