WHO Convenes Emergency Medical Team Technical Working Group on National Accreditation

WHO held the first meeting of Emergency Medical Team Technical Working Group on National Accreditation on 2 to 3 May 2019 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Twenty-three participants from the WHO African, Eastern Mediterranean, European, South-East Asian and Western Pacific Region participated in the meeting, along with WHO staff from all 3 levels of the organization. Key criteria and processes for national accreditation systems of Emergency Medical Teams were discussed at the meeting in order to inform the development of a framework to guide countries in the development of their own systems. WHO SEARO sees this as a key part to support improving the quality of care and levels of professionalism of national EMTs.
