Celebrating World Immunization Week 2025

The WHO South-East Asia Regional Office (SEARO) celebrated this year’s World Immunization Week on 25 April 2025 with a special interactive session on vaccines and immunization with children and their parents working in WHO in the office premises.

Under the banner of “Immunization for All is Humanly Possible” Dr Suman Rijal, Director, Department of Communicable Diseases Dr Vinod Bura, Coordinator, Immunization and Vaccine Development (IVD) Unit, of WHO SEARO highlighted the value and benefits of vaccines for everybody and delivered the key message of Ms Saima Wazed, Regional Director, WHO SEARO.

IVD staff interacted with children and their parents presenting interesting questions and answers, discussing a wide range of immunization aspects, and highlighting how we can jointly ensue that even more children, adolescents, adults – and their communities – are protected against vaccine-preventable diseases. Many of children showed their vaccination status and their parents shared their lessons and experience with some questions on future vaccination plans.

All children were awarded with symbolic small tokens for their participation, good immunization knowledge and keen interest. This joyful and interactive session served as an opportunity to raise public awareness and promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against diseases.
