On September 15th, 2025, WHO has released the 2025 MI4A Public Vaccine Purchase Dataset, based on data collected from countries in 2025 (as of July 29, 2025). The dataset includes reporting from 174 countries on their 2024 purchases
Vaccine markets
A World Health Organization (WHO) initiative, Market Information for Access to Vaccines (MI4A), has been launched to contribute to the achievement of Strategic Development Goal 3.8 (Universal Health Coverage target) by enhancing access to safe, effective, quality, and affordable vaccines for all. MI4A is part of the broader WHO effort to ensure availability of Essential Medicines and responds to specific requests from Member States and the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) to address vaccine market information gaps.
MI4A provides a unique global perspective on vaccine markets, covering all countries and vaccines with objectives to:
- Enhance the understanding of global vaccine demand, supply and pricing dynamics and identify access barriers and risks;
- Convene global health experts and partners on strategies and guidance to address identified risks and opportunities;
- Strengthen national and regional capacity for improved access to vaccines supply.
MI4A Countries Case Studies
A few use cases are shown in the attached document to describe how countries have used vaccine purchase data and related outcomes.
Analysis on MI4A data use
This reports provides an overview of the multiple uses of the MI4A data cited in the literature or related by WHO between 2015 and 2021. This analysis is not a comprehensive review but rather a brief overview of some of the primary applications of the MI4A data to date.

Vaccine Purchase Data
The MI4A vaccine purchase database (former V3P) contains information on vaccine prices, volumes, manufacturers, procurement modalities, contract length and more as reported by over 150 countries through the WHO/UNICEF Joint Reporting Form. The database is updated every year. Information on Covid-19 vaccine purchases is also available and updated on a monthly basis.
Market Studies
MI4A produces a range of market analyses and vaccine-specific reports. These aim to strengthen understanding of global vaccine supply-demand dynamics, identifying affordability and shortage risks.
Middle Income Countries
Middle-income countries (MICs) face the greatest challenge of ensuring sustainable access to vaccine supply, given their limited external assistance and national resources.
