Noncommunicable Disease Surveillance, Monitoring and Reporting
The main objective of the Surveillance, Monitoring and Reporting unit is to support the collection, analysis, and dissemination of country-level risk factor information to inform and improve public health policy.
G-SHPPS methodology

G-SHPPS is conducted among primary and secondary school principals and head teachers. G-SHPPS combines the following key elements to create a high-quality global surveillance system:
- a standardized scientific sample selection process
- common methodology
- a common self-administered questionnaire.
WHO provides technical support to countries throughout the planning and implementation of their survey including:
- help with questionnaire development
- help with sample design and selection
- training of survey coordinators and programme planners
- provision of survey implementation handbooks and other materials
- scanning of computer-scannable answer sheets
- data editing and weighting
- provision/facilitation of funding and resources to assist countries.
