Noncommunicable Disease Surveillance, Monitoring and Reporting
The main objective of the Surveillance, Monitoring and Reporting unit is to support the collection, analysis, and dissemination of country-level risk factor information to inform and improve public health policy.
GYTS questionnaire

GYTS is composed of 58 "core" questions designed to gather data on the following seven domains. The questionnaire also allows countries to insert their own country-specific questions.
- Prevalence of cigarette smoking and other tobacco use
- Access to cigarettes
- Cessation
- Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS)
- Electronic cigarette use
- Role of the media and advertising in young people’s use of cigarettes
- Knowledge and attitudes of young people towards cigarette smoking
Additionally, the questionnaire includes optional modules each covering the use of one of the following: electronic cigarettes, shisha, heated tobacco products (HTPs), bidis, smokeless tobacco and oral nicotine products. There are also over 300 additional optional questions countries may choose to include in their questionnaires. Finally, a short school policy questionnaire is available for countries wishing to capture tobacco-related policy information from schools.
