Friday 15 November 2019 was the first ever time that Thai parliamentarians from various Standing Committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives gathered to be informed about the situation of road safety at global and local levels and the urgent need to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries in Thailand. Parliamentarians also exchanged knowledge and experiences with Senator Alex Gallacher from Australia and Mr David Davies from the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) UK about the role of parliamentarians in moving forward road safety related laws and policies. They were also familiarised with the principles of the Safe System Approach which focuses on shared responsibilities across sectors and Vision Zero. The seminar was led by the World Health Organization Thailand Country Office, in collaboration with the British Embassy, ThaiHealth, and the Road Safety Foundation.

เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 15 พฤศจิกายน 2562 นับเป็นครั้งแรกของประวัติศาสตร์ไทยที่สมาชิกรัฐสภาทั้งจากวุฒิสภาและสภาผู้แทนราษฎรจากคณะกรรมาธิการต่าง ๆ ได้มารวมตัวกันเพื่อรับทราบสถานการณ์ความปลอดภัยทางถนนระดับโลกและระดับประเทศ และความจำเป็นเร่งด่วนในการป้องกันและแก้ไขปัญหาการเสียชีวิตและบาดเจ็บจากอุบัติเหตุทางถนนในประเทศไทย ตลอดจนแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ประสบการณ์กับวุฒิสมาชิกจากออสเตรเลีย Mr Alex Gallacher และ Mr David Davies ผู้อำนวยการบริหารจาก Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) สหราชอาณาจักร ถึงบทบาทของสมาชิกรัฐสภาในการขับเคลื่อนกฎหมายและนโยบายด้านความปลอดภัยทางถนน นอกจากนั้น สมาชิกรัฐสภาไทยยังได้ทำความรู้จักกับ Safe System Approach ซึ่งเป็นแนวทางที่เน้นความร่วมผิดชอบร่วมกันของทุกภาคส่วนและมุ่งสู่การลดการเสียชีวิตจากอุบัติเหตุให้เป็นศูนย์ การสัมมนาในครั้งนี้นำโดยองค์การอนามัยโลกประจำประเทศไทย ในความร่วมมือกับสถานทูตอังกฤษ สำนักงานกองทุนสนับสนุนการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพ และมูลนิธิเพื่อความปลอดภัยทางถนน
