Air Quality Standards database
Released on 12 Feb 2025 – 2nd edition
Last update on 19 May 2025
This database is a comprehensive resource that compiles national air quality standards for criteria pollutants and other airborne toxics from countries worldwide. It aims to provide an overview of countries’ efforts toward achieving the WHO Global Air Quality Guidelines (AQG).
The data was compiled by the WHO in collaboration with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH). It’s presented as an interactive map to visualize short and long-term standards for particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), ozone (O3) and carbon monoxide (CO), for averaging times comparable with WHO AQG.
