Rehabilitation in Viet Nam

As of 2015, Viet Nam has more than 7 million people living with some forms of disabilities (7.8% of the population). The highest forms of disability include locomotion (27%), vision (15%), hearing and speech (15%), and mental and intelligence (31%).

The coverage and range of rehabilitation services in the country are emerging, with 159 rehabilitation facilities in 52 provinces. The availability of accessible and affordable rehabilitation is necessary for many people with health conditions to remain as independent as possible, to participate in education, to be economically productive, and fulfil meaningful life roles. 

PWDs in Viet Nam

People with disabilities account for 7.8% of the Vietnamese population in 2015.

Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR)

Community based Rehabilitation (CBR), is currently being implemented in 51 of the 63 provinces of Viet Nam. It is estimated that about 23.2% persons with disability (PWDs) having needs for rehabilitation have accessed this service.
