Fit for the Future: Leveraging frontier technologies to build a noncommunicable disease program for youth, with youth in Viet Nam

70% of premature deaths in adults are associated with behaviours that start in adolescence. Since 2021, PATH and the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has implemented the project “Leveraging Data and Frontier Technologies to Build a Noncommunicable Disease Program for Youth, with Youth” to address noncommunicable disease (NCD) risk behaviors among Vietnamese youth.

The project is developing an educational program in e-Learning and in-person formats, including a web-based and mobile-based application with artificial intelligence, to provide students, parents, teachers and school administrators with tailored knowledge, skills, and support to practise NCD prevention. More than 10 000 adolescents along with 20 000 parents and family members who benefited from the education programme, are expected to practise healthy behaviours to prevent NCDs. The application will be integrated into the MOET website to create a “digital educational ecosystem” that connects our target audiences with relevant stakeholders and supports decision-makers in healthcare programmes for youth.
