Joint Emergency Risk Management Action Plan (JERMAP)

Overview

COVID-19 highlighted the need for more coherent, interoperable, and predictable systems to support preparedness and response to health emergencies. Across the diverse Western Pacific Region, countries, areas and partners already operate numerous coordination mechanisms. Each coordination mechanism brings value, but they often operate independently, focusing on specific geographical areas. To address this challenge, the Joint Emergency Risk Management Action Plan (JERMAP) is being developed to strengthen co-ordination during emergencies. It draws on best practices and hazard-based planning to connect mechanisms and partners, and to reduce fragmentation, to enable timely, reliable, and effective health emergency response.
