The Staff Association in collaboration with the PMO team organized its 2018 first lunch time brownbag session on knowledge management. Peixuan, the intern with PMO unit presented a draft framework on knowledge management for the country office.
Knowledge management is widely used by both private and public sector for knowledge sharing, retention, learning and capacity building. WHO was among the pioneering organization in the UN system to adapt a comprehensive Knowledge Management Strategy (WHO, 2005), and there is a framework at headquarters and regional office.
The presentation shared what WHO and other agencies are doing, and highlighted the four key elements of knowledge management.
An online survey was conducted in the office, and 18 out of 24 staff who responded has indicated that they are willing to invest time in learning new knowledge related to their work. There was a lively discussion, on including general staff and providing opportunity for them to participate in field activity.
