Tanahun, Gandaki province - WHO Nepal officially handed over an Electronic Medical Recording (EMR) System to G.P. Koirala National Center for Respiratory Diseases in Gandaki Province. The system, developed on an open-source platform with WHO’s technical support, is fully aligned with the Ministry of Health and Population’s vision for integrating Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and advancing national digital health strategies. By reducing reliance on paper-based systems, the EMR enables real-time access to medical records, supports timely clinical decisions, strengthens disease surveillance and improves emergency preparedness. Its phased implementation will cover all hospital departments and connect with national health databases, fostering a more resilient, efficient and equitable health-care system. WHO Nepal will provide support for full-fledged implementation of the system. This initiative is supported by The Pandemic Fund.
