Assessing foodborne disease surveillance and response

Overview

Assessment of foodborne disease surveillance was initiated in 2015 and eight out of 11 countries have done self-assessment followed by validation workshop. Priority action for 2 years have been identified and WHO is supporting implementation of these activities. The assessment was important for advocacy at policy level and it was also good to objectively evaluate food safety under state party annul reporting (SPAR) and joint external evaluation (JEE) under IHR.
