Climate change and sexual and reproductive health and rights
The impact of climate change on health is well documented. Specific to sexual and reproductive health and rights, evidence is growing on the deleterious effects of different climate change factors. For example, by negatively affecting maternal and neonatal health outcomes or contraceptive use, or by increasing prevalence of gender-based violence or of other harmful practices such as female genital mutilation or child marriage. However, there are still many unknowns in this space.
SRH/HRP are working towards building the evidence at the nexus of climate change and SRHR to make sure that policies are responsive to these new threats to hard-won gains in pursuit of improving health.
