For over 50 years, HRP has pursued a vision of sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. This timeline captures just a small number of our achievements.
Special Programme HRP was first established in 1972, following a World Health Assembly Resolution. It has a unique mandate within the UN system to conduct research and research capacity strengthening on sexual and reproductive health and rights across the globe.
HRP is now very excited to be celebrating our 50th anniversary. With five decades of groundbreaking research, innovation and impact to commemorate, we are looking forward to a programme of activities which will also reveal our future priorities and the impact we intend to make.
From our inception, HRP has pursued a vision of sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. The dedication and commitment of volunteers, researchers, scientists, academics, health professionals, donors, civil society partners, staff and consultants has helped us to make great strides towards achieving our vision. We want to take this opportunity to celebrate each and every person, organization and government who has been, continues to be, or is just starting out on this incredible journey with us.
And more than this, we also want to look forward to the change we can make together. The past 50 years have shown us that with collaboration across sectors, we can make a difference, for all people, everywhere
