How to apply?

There are a few steps to take in the application process. Steps 1 and 2 go hand in hand. Consultation with key stakeholders is crucial to the effective use of the diagnostic tool and to submitting a successful application:

1. National consultations

Read these webpages on the application process and relevant documentation first, to consider what your country would want to achieve through a CTF2 project.

Strong applications entail careful planning with all relevant stakeholders.

Individual country applications
Applications are coordinated by the country’s Codex Contact Point (CCP). The official CCP is the point of communication with the Codex Trust Fund Secretariat.

The CCP will also be responsible for officially submitting the application on behalf of the country to the Codex Trust Fund Secretariat. The application should be approved and signed by the WHO and FAO country representatives.

Group applications
Group applications involving two or more countries will follow a similar format. They should be the result of national consultative processes in each of the countries forming part of the group application.

One country should be delegated by all the countries participating in the group application to submit the application to CTF2 on behalf of all participating countries. This “reference country”, or “lead country” will also be the sole correspondent with CTF2 for the group application. The group application will need to be coordinated and signed by the official CCP in the lead country, the WHO and FAO country representatives in the lead country, and the CCPs of the participating countries.

2.  In consultation with stakeholders, diagnose the priority weaknesses in national Codex structures using the Diagnostic Tool. Save the Diagnostic Tool tables as these will be needed for the application.

3. Fill in the application form (Individual or Group) and save, as this will be needed for the application.

4. Fill in the online application.

Part of this step will require a clear conceptual understanding of the ‘log-frame’ approach to project design (goals, outcomes, outputs, activities), which is required in the final application.

Applications must be submitted electronically via WHO DataForm by the closing date indicated in the announcement email.

Only proposals that are complete, with a fully signed application form and completed Diagnostic Tool tables and received by the indicated closing date and time will be accepted.
